Standards for the Protection Capability (IP67) and Image Processing Capability (WDR) of Underwater Aquaculture Cameras
Hits: 848 Time: September 29,2025

The standards for the IP67 protection capability and WDR image processing capability of underwater aquaculture cameras are as follows:

  • Standards for IP67 Protection Capability: The "6" in IP67 represents the dust protection level, and the "7" represents the water protection level. According to the national standard GB 4208-2017 "Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosures (IP Code)":
    • The "Level 6" dust protection requires the product to be completely dust-tight. When the product is placed in an environment with dust particles smaller than 75μm for 8 consecutive hours, no dust shall penetrate into the interior of the enclosure.
    • The "Level 7" water protection requires the product to be temporarily immersed in 1-meter-deep water at normal temperature and pressure for 30 minutes without causing harmful effects. After the test, the device shall function normally with no water ingress.
  • Standards for WDR Image Processing Capability: WDR, short for Wide Dynamic Range, refers to the contrast between the darkest and brightest tones that a camera can capture. In video surveillance, WDR technology aims to effectively manage high-contrast environments by subtly balancing extreme conditions—preventing overexposure in bright areas while preserving details in dark areas, thus avoiding underexposed or overexposed images.

The dynamic range of a camera is usually measured in decibels (dB). Defined by industry standards from IHS Markit, the WDR range should reach 60dB or higher. However, there are also cameras on the market with a WDR dynamic range of 120dB or higher.
